Marisa PerezTrustee Marisa Perez was elected to serve on the California Community College Trustees (CCCT) Board at the Community College League of California (CCLC) 2017 Annual Trustees Conference, May 4-7.

Trustee Perez was elected to the Cerritos College Board of Trustees in November 2012, and was re-elected in November 2016. She represents Trustee Area 4, which includes Hawaiian Gardens and portions of the cities of Lakewood, Bellflower, Cerritos, and Long Beach. Perez has held the positions of Board President and Board Vice President.

Perez serves as a board advisor to a South Coast Air Quality Management District governing board member as well as a former White House advisor to President George W. Bush.

“I am looking forward to representing the 113 community colleges across the state, including Cerritos College. Specifically, I will work to increase funding for California's community college students, particularly the Cal Grant program. Our students receive less than ten percent of these resources, despite the fact that our students comprise two-thirds of the state's higher education population. In addition, student success funds have transformed our system to emphasize degree completion, and I will continue to advocate for these resources,” said Perez.
