College Names New Vice President of Academic Affairs

Rick MirandaCerritos College named Rick Miranda, Ph.D., as Vice President/Assistant Superintendent of Academic Affairs. The Cerritos College Board of Trustees approved his contract at its regular meeting on May 17.

Rick, who has served as Acting Vice President of Academic Affairs since February 2016, will continue to oversee the Academic Affairs Office and all of the instructional programs at Cerritos College.

Rick has been employed by the District as the Dean of Academic Affairs since 2012.  Prior to that, he served as a professor of biology for Taft College from 2005. Rick also taught at California State University, Bakersfield from 2004 to 2005. Rick holds a Ph.D. in plant biology from the University of California, Riverside and a master's degree in biology from California State University, San Bernardino.

“Rick will be instrumental in helping the College work together to accomplish our goals as outlined in the newly adopted Educational Master Plan,” said Cerritos College President/Superintendent Dr. Jose Fierro.
