Dental Hygiene Students Provide Free Dental Cleanings

Dental Hygiene studentsCerritos College’s Dental Hygiene students provided free dental care at the Care Harbor LA Event held in downtown Los Angeles in November.

During the event, 3,500 uninsured, underinsured and underserved participants received free medical, dental and vision services. Dental Hygiene students serviced 365 patients with general oral care including fluoride varnish treatments.

For Mahsa Bouzari, a first year Dental Hygiene student,  the experience was fulfilling. “It was an extremely humbling and eye opening experience to see how much love, care and service can be given when a group of like-minded people gather for a good cause.”

“Participating in Care Harbor truly opened my eyes to the magnitude of need that is out there and it inspired us to continue to give back to our community in whatever ways we can,” said Cori Salazar, second-year Dental Hygiene student.

Care Harbor’s mission is to promote the health and well-being of underserved populations by offering free clinic events that provide quality, sustainable care.

Students in the Cerritos College Dental Hygiene program regularly volunteer in the community.
