Cerritos College Recognized for Solar Panel Technician Training and Expanding Job Opportunities

Cerritos College’s Advanced Transportation Technology and Energy program (ATTE) and Economic Development Department were recognized with the South Bay Workforce Investment Board’s Training Provider Award for their joint effort Electrical Field Service Technician program.

The 18-week Electrical Field Service Technician training program provided job seekers with an intensive training session in the high-demand field of solar panel development. More than 80 percent of participants secured jobs after completing the program.

“Providing needed job skills in transportation and energy fields is our key mission,” said Jannet Malig, director of advanced transportation technology project. “We strive to expand job opportunities for students, residents and businesses across the region. We are humbled by this recognition,” echoed Belle Gomez, director of community advancement/economic development.
