Cerritos College Alumnus Leaves $2.3M Estate Gift for Woodworking Scholarships
The Cerritos College Foundation announced today Cerritos College alumnus, the late John B. Smith, Jr., left a $2.3 million gift from his estate to support the College’s acclaimed woodworking program. Link to the full story about Woodworking gift. Read the feature story by Los Angeles Times.
Great California Shake Out - Thursday, October 17 at 10:17 a.m.
On Thursday, October 17 at 10:17 a.m., Cerritos College will join hundreds of organizations across the state in the annual Great California Shake Out. This will be an evacuation drill on how to respond in the case of an earthquake while on campus.
Ecuador Celebrated with Music and Dance
Latinx Heritage Month featured Ecuadorian music and performance on October 9. The lively performance was led by Yolanda Villegas, who represents Ecuador as an ambassador of music. Yolanda is also a student at Cerritos College. More Latinx celebrations continue this week. View the flyer.
Business Week Lights Students Futures
The second annual Business Week was celebrated October 7-10. The four-day campus event promoted business learning and student success through a variety of lectures, speakers, information sessions, student pitch competition, and workshops. Students had opportunities to connect with guest speakers business owners, top executives, hiring managers, and a music producer.
Halloween Office Contest is Back!
It’s that time again! The Halloween Office Decorating and Costume Contest categories are: 1) spookiest office, 2) most creative office, 3) office with the most staff in costumes, and new categories judges' favorite and funniest. The winners will enjoy an office lunch party, courtesy of Public Affairs. Student judges will be visiting participating offices on October 31 between 1:30 p.m. - 4 p.m. Sign up for the contest via email by Thursday, October 24!
Chancellor Oakley on Campus October 23
California Community College Chancellor Eloy Ortiz Oakley and members of the Board of Governors will visit campus on Wednesday, October 23.Cerritos College was selected as a designed stop along Chancellor Oakley’s statewide listening tour. Zombie Fest Returns! Donate Food and Supplies
The annual Zombie Fest on Thursday, October 31 at 11 a.m. in Falcon Square. Zombie Fest was created to address the food insecurity on campus. Students who finish the zombie-infested maze will receive a free shirt while supplies last. ASCC is accepting donations for food and supplies all month to address the food insecurity on campus.
