College Ranks Seventh Among Nation’s Top 100 Schools for Hispanics

Cerritos College is ranked seventh among the top 100 colleges and universities with the highest Hispanic enrollment in the United States, according to the Hispanic Outlook on Education magazine. Inaugural Student Convocation Introduces Learning and Career Pathways

The College hosted the inaugural Student Convocation on October 13. Led by President/Superintendent Dr. Jose Fierro, Traci Ukita and Dr. Angela Hoppe-Nagao, the event introduced the College's Learning and Career Pathways (LCP) to students. Nearly 80 students learned the importance of graduating on time and how the LCP can help them cross the finish line, while enjoying pizza, cookies and lemonade prepared by the award-winning Culinary Arts program.

I Am Frida Kahlo Previewed by Broadway World

I Am Frida Kahlo, an original play written and directed by Cerritos College Spanish Professor Froylán Cabuto, was previewed by Broadway World.com. Read the review (external link). Tito Rodriguez Speaks on Creating Social Change for Street Vendors

Puente hosted the Street Vendors, Creating Social Change event celebrating Latinx Heritage Month on October 11. The event featured Music Producer and Philanthropist Tito Rodriguez, also known as the Hood Santa, who provides children and families in the Long Beach and Los Angeles area with gifts, clothing, and food. The Long Beach native shared his background growing up in poverty and spoke about his advocacy effort for social change and justice for street vendors through his non-profit organization @localheartsfoundation. The event also featured dance performances by folkloric dancer Lizbeth Soria, aka Bonita Chinita, and free tamales and pupusas.

The party provided safe space to honor the evolution

Each and Every Day Screening and Therapy Dogs

Join us for a documentary screening of Each and Every Day, depicting young people discussing suicidal ideation, loneliness, and depression. The film shows audiences of all ages that these struggles are universal and there is hope and help. Light snack provided. Featuring guest stars Paws-to-Share therapy dogs.

Support 37th Annual Cerritos College Foundation Golf Tournament

Cerritos College Foundation will host its 37th Annual Golf Classic, presented by Tilden Coil Constructors on Thursday, October 27 at California Country Club. The tournament will open with registration at 8:30 a.m., breakfast sponsored by Porto's Bakery and Chick-Fil-A Pico Rivera, and a Putting Contest sponsored by Musty Putters. National Transfer Week is October 17-21. Show your support for transfer students by wearing Wear your Alma Mater anytime during the next week and use it as a way to start a conversation about transfer with students. Students at all stages of their transfer process are welcome to participate in the week long activities including FREE Nachos on Oct. 18th from 11-2pm for the Transfer Center Open House.
