Cerritos College Talon Marks Receives Journalism Awards

Talon Marks students at the awardsNORWALK, Calif. – April 3, 2017 - Cerritos College's Talon Marks newspaper team recently won awards at the annual California College Media Association banquet in San Francisco. The event was attended by more than 200 students and faculty from community colleges and universities throughout California.

The Talon Marks staff competed with 1,200 community colleges and universities from all over the state. 

Students Terrel Emerson, Karla Enriquez, Briana Hicks and Bianca Martinez represented the Talon Marks team at the banquet.

Emerson won first place for best podcast in the community college division.

Enriquez, Hicks, Martinez, and David Jenkins won first place for best blog in the community college division, while Carlos Marquez, took home fourth place for best editorial cartoon in the community college division.

Lastly, the entire Talon Marks crew was recognized as an honorable mention for best newspaper website.

According to journalism instructor and Talon Marks faculty adviser Rich Cameron, this was the biggest showing for Talon Marks at any California College Media Association event.
