Ryan Bodmer

Ryan Bodmer is an active California Peace Officer serving as a Senior Criminal Investigator with the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office and has a combined 24-years of law enforcement experience. In addition, he is a Command Sergeant Major in the United States Army Reserves. He has taught at Cerritos College as an Adjunct Faculty Instructor in the Department of Social Sciences – Administration of Justice program since 2014.   

 

Mr. Bodmer entered military service upon graduation from Huntington Beach High School in 1988. He spent his initial active duty service in the Military Police Corps ascending to the rank of Sergeant. The majority of his service was centered around Military Police Investigations. Upon completion of his initial enlistment, Mr. Bodmer returned to Southern California, where he attended Golden West College, receiving his Associate Science Degree in Administration of Justice.

 

Mr. Bodmer joined the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department in October of 1993. Upon completion of the Sheriff’s Academy, he was assigned to Jail Operations. During his 21-year tenure with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Mr. Bodmer has worked a vast array of law enforcement assignments, to include Patrol Operations, General Investigations Bureau, Major Narcotics Bureau - assigned to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) as Federal Task Force Officer, and spent over 8-years assigned to the Special Investigations Bureau – Central Homicide Unit, ascending to the rank of Master Investigator.

 

Mr. Bodmer is a certified Police Officer Standards and Training (POST) Instructor, teaching Advance Officer Training (AOT) courses at the Riverside Sheriff’s - Ben Clark Training Center in Advanced Search Warrant Preparation, Basic Investigator Course, and Crime Scene Investigation.

 

In November of 2014, Mr. Bodmer was selected for a lateral position within the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office, where he is currently employed as a Senior Criminal Investigator assigned to the Major Crimes Unit – Cold Case Homicide. There, his responsibilities include providing investigative support to the District Attorney and the agency’s trial attorneys county-wide, with a principle task of providing investigative enhancement to complex death investigations, officer involved shooting investigations (OIS), and organized crime cases set for trial and or the Grand Jury.

 

Mr. Bodmer continues to serve our Nation as a Senior Non-Commissioned Officer in the United States Army Reserves and has a combined 28-years of military service. He is a graduate of the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, and he is currently the Command Sergeant Major of the 364th Civil Affairs Brigade, in Clackamas, Oregon.

 

Mr. Bodmer has earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice Administration and Behavioral Health Science, and a Graduate Degree in Public Administration from Chapman University. He holds Advanced and Investigation Certificates from POST, and maintains his professional affiliations as an active member of the California Narcotics Officer Association, California Homicide Investigators Association, and the International Homicide Investigators Association. He has been the keynote speaker on a number of investigative topics, to include Major Case Management and Solving Cold Case Homicides through Advancements in Forensic Science.
