Ty Henshaw

Ty HenshawProfessor Ty Henshaw joined Cerritos College in 2014.  He is part of the Administration of Justice faculty here at Cerritos College, and is an active law enforcement officer.  He currently serves the City of Irwindale as the Police Chief.  His police career has spanned nearly 29 years and has included various assignments.  Professor Henshaw’s career has included time as a Police Officer, Field Training Officer, Detective, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain and has been serving as Police Chief for the last 3 years.

Professor Henshaw currently sits as a State Board Member for the California Peace Officers Association (CPOA) and he is a member of the California Police Chief’s Association, and the International Association of Chief’s of Police.  This involvement keeps Professor Henshaw relevant and current with issues facing Law Enforcement and our communities which he translates to the classroom.

Professor Henshaw grew up in Downey is a product of the Community College System.  He attended classes at Cerritos College and other community colleges in the area.  Professor Henshaw earned his Bachelors Degree from California State University Long Beach in 2009.  He continued his educational goals and ultimately earned two Master Degrees - one in Public Administration from California State University Northridge, and the other Master Degree in Emergency Services Administration from California State University Long Beach.  He has also attended many advanced leadership courses as part of his duties as a Law Enforcement leader.

Professor Henshaw enjoys bringing real-life discussions to the classroom.  Discussions that include insight into how law enforcement and the field of Administration of Justice deals with current issues facing our communities.
