About Carmen Hill, Adjunct Faculty, Real Estate Department

Carmen Hill has a MBA in Real Estate Finance from the Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania and a BA in Management & Economics from Howard University. She completed the Ross Minority Program in Real Estate Development at the University of Southern California. She has extensive real estate experience—in financing, sales, appraisal, investments, development, appraisal, and property management in the for-profit and non-profit sectors.

She worked for the Real Estate Industries Division of CitiBank in New York City; the Real Estate Investment Department of Prudential Insurance Company; and for Goldrich & Kest, a major builder of low income apartments. She developed award-winning programs for the homeless mentally ill consumers of Tri-City Mental Health Center in Pomona and Portals Mental Health in Los Angeles. She assisted in developing the strategic plan and the operating policies and procedures for two nonprofit housing organization: Housing with HEART, a newly formed affiliate of Jamboree Housing in Irvine, and Irvine Housing Opportunities.

She has worked as real estate broker, property manager, and consultant for over 35 years. Her clients have included individuals/families as well as financial institutions and community organizations. As an investor, she purchased single family houses and sold them for a profit and developed a 75-unit apartment project for low-income seniors in partnership with a major developer.

She has been teaching real estate classes and workshops at Cerritos College since 2002. She has conducted workshops at numerous conferences and community locations throughout California.
