The Grindel Collection: Ancient Artifacts from the Near East

John Grindel and Steve RichardsonFormer Cerritos College administrator Dr. John Grindel generously donated a collection of 30 artifacts from the Ancient Near East to the Cerritos College Foundation in 2017. Now housed in the permanent collection storage room of the Cerritos College Art Gallery, this exhibition is the first time these objects are made available to the public.

Collected over the course of Dr. Grindel’s academic career, the artifacts range from the late Iron Age to the Bronze Age (approximately 3,500 to 2,000 years ago) from Israel/Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, and Iraq. Items include ceramic wares of everyday usage, a wooden spoon, a bronze toga pins, and fragments of flint and iron tools.
