Dr. Jose Fierro, Julie, and Sandy MarksThe Cerritos College Board of Trustees recognized retiree Julie Bathke, associate professor, Physical Therapist Assistant, for her many years of service to the College on June 5.

Julie earned a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy from California State University, Long Beach in 1978, and a master’s degree in education from the University of Kentucky in 1983. She began as a part-time instructor in the Cerritos Colleges’ Physical Therapy Assistant Department in 1983, and became a full-time faculty member in 2002. Julie received an Outstanding Faculty Award in 2006.

Her 41 years of experience as a physical therapist in clinical physical therapy departments in hospitals, skilled nursing facilities and outpatient clinics have served her students well. Julie has taught many of the programs classes, but enjoys Integumentary and Geriatrics the best. She has served on the sabbatical committee and the curriculum committee. Julie's favorite part of being an educator is helping her students achieve their dreams. She consistently exerts that extra effort for the program and her students. Julie brought an aquatics class and an exposure to adaptive PE to her students.

Thank you, Julie, for your service at Cerritos College! Upon your retirement, we wish you good health, success, and fulfillment in the many years ahead.
