Carmen Lizarraga Named Employee of the Month of July 2019
The Outstanding Classified/Confidential Employee Selection Committee named Carmen
Lizarraga as the recipient of the Outstanding Classified/Confidential Employee of
the Month Award for July 2019.
Carmen began her career at Cerritos College as a short-term hourly in 2014. In 2015 she was hired as an Administrative Clerk II in the Technology department. Carmen was promoted to an Administrative Clerk III for the Science, Engineering, and Mathematics department in 2018.
Carmen exudes professionalism when working with the over 200 faculty and staff and nearly 12,000 students that make up the Division of Science, Engineering, and Mathematics. Carmen works outside the expectations of her position in her role as the budget manager for the SEM Division. In that role, Carmen worked with the dean of the SEM division to completely overhaul the division budget to develop a line-item specific system for all six departments. Additionally, she worked with all of the lab technicians to develop three-year, semester-by-semester spending patterns to more effectively forecast budget needs for the next fiscal year. In an effort to better publicize the SEM Division, Carmen developed a flyer that highlights all the programs. She completely overhauled the SEM Division website and ensured that it met 508 compliance standards. In addition to her regular duties, Carmen participates in events on and off campus that support the institution as well as help her professionally develop.

We are proud that you are a Cerritos College employee and we commend you for your outstanding service and dedication," said Board President Carmen Avalos, as she presented the award to Carmen.
