Adult Education Provides Loaner Laptops to Student-Emergency Responders in the Energy Certificate Program

Students holding laptopsThe Adult Education and Diversity Programs provided loaner laptops to 30 noncredit students in the California Conservation Corps (CCC) that started the College’s Energy Certificate program.

“We are assisting students that currently do not have the means to take an online class because they don’t have the technology available to fully participate and engage in the online educational environment,” said Graciela Vasquez.

The Energy Certificate program provides an introduction to energy, lighting, and retrofit, including the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training. Students receive an OSHA certification upon completing the program.
Past CCC participants of the College’s Energy Certificate Program have obtained jobs with electrical or solar companies that partner with the CCC.

The CCC helps individuals achieve professional, educational, and personal development through community engagement and career training. Corps members enrolled in the CCC are all young adults between the ages of 18 to 25 years old, and trained emergency responders, who are often the first to help protect and serve their local communities.
