Psychology Students Present at Research Convention

Psychology students at the conferenceIn April, psychology students attended the Western Psychological Association (WPA) Conference. Students Matt Picazzo, Bea Roxas, Sarena Eworonsky, and Jaqueline Piza presented their novel research at the conference. Bea presented on academic stress and overall life quality in community college students; Bea, Sarena, and Jaqueline presented the research What do you believe? The impact of psychological courses and critical reflection on dispelling psychological myths; and Matt presented on acceptance of psilocybin as a treatment for depression is increased when educated on its benefits.

Additionally, Psychology Club students Katherine Jimenez, Nimsi Murillo, and David New had the opportunity to attend. “The Cerritos College Psychology Club/Psi Beta chapter students were extremely professional and took full advantage of the professional conference by attending presentations and networking with faculty and students from around the country,” said Psychology Professor Dr. Kimberley Duff. "I believe that attending this conference was an incredible opportunity for our students and strengthened their desire to continue their education in psychology."

"My takeaway from the conference is a new ability to address large groups more comfortably," said Matt Picazzo. Matt is transferring to CSULB to obtain a degree in psychology with a goal to become a licensed marriage and family therapist.
