Rep. Michelle Steel secures $1 million to boost student veteran employment at Cerritos College

Congresswoman Michelle Steel secured $1 million in congressional funding to expand student veteran employment at Cerritos College. Unemployment among young veterans is nearly triple the national average, yet student veterans possess an array of unique skills and training as a result of their military service. Studies show that veterans remain with their initial employers 8.3 percent longer and are 39 percent more likely to be promoted than their nonveteran counterparts... Teacher TRACd

Teacher TRAC; 25 years of transforming students into leaders in their schools and communities

In August 1999, Cerritos College admitted the first group of students into its Teacher TRaining ACademy (Teacher TRAC). This inaugural group of students went on to be the first group of students in California to graduate from a community college teacher preparation program, transfer to a university, and, in just two years, finish an integrated elementary teacher preparation program. This included their bachelor’s degree, student teaching, and preliminary credentials. 25 years later, these students are now teachers, administrators, and leaders in their community.
