Description:

Academic Support Keys (ASK) is a Success Center pilot that provides students with a personal peer success mentor. The success mentor is a math, English, or psychology tutor who meets bi-weekly with the student to assist them to pass their course. The success mentor either tutors the student in the academic subject or refers the student to other resources on campus to meet their needs. ASK program staff also request progress reports from instructors to check on ASK students progress in their classes.

Success mentors receive weekly training on tutoring topics as well as campus resources, such as Falcon's Nest, Student Health Center, Umoja, Puente, and more. The goal is to provide students with a consistent and single point of contact who has a well-rounded knowledge of campus.

Intended Goals/Outcomes:

100% of students participating fully in ASK will complete college level math or English requirement during the term they participate in ASK.

Assessment of the program will be completed at the end of the semester through IERP to determine the success rate of the students who consistently met with their success mentor. In addition, a student satisfaction survey will be sent to ASK students in April 2021.
