EOPS & English collaboration

Targeted Group(s):

  1. EOPS students, who face social and economic barriers.
  2. CARE students, who are EOPS parenting students receiving cash aid.
  3. LINC students, who are are current or former foster youth. Focus is on enrolling EOPS/CARE students who have dropped or failed English 100/103 previously, to try and help them be successful/complete their English course requirements. If openings remain in the class, then extend invitation to other EOPS students.

Description:

In partnership with the Liberal Arts Division and the English department, creating sections of English 100 and English 103 specifically for EOPS/CARE/LINC students. These sections will provide additional support to the enrolled EOPS/CARE/LINC students from the teacher, the collaboration with our EOPS/CARE/LINC specific writing tutors, and our follow-up from and EOPS Specialist and Counselor when we see particular students need additional support. We also will guide the student who is not doing well or drops into another upcoming 9-week course, to try and continue to build upon what they have learned and help them to successfully complete their English requirements.

Intended Goals/Outcomes:

Completion of English 100 and/or English 103.
