Susan Watanabe - Professor, Costume and Makeup Programs
Watanabe received her MFA from USC. After free-lancing in film, video, and theater
she became the head of the makeup and costume programs at Cerritos College. In 2002
she was awarded a Kennedy Center ACTF Faculty Fellowship. As a former Knott's Scary
Farm makeup artist, she has trained and transitioned students directly into working
for Knott's. Her students have been consistent costume competition winners at The
Original Renaissance Pleasure Faire from1992 - 2011. Many of her students are now
employed in the entertainment industry. She learned her hair
ventilating skills while attending a
United States Institute of Theatre Technology (USITT) Costume Symposium on Wigs held
at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. She expanded her knowledge
by studying wig making at DePaul University where she earned a Wig and Hair Production
