Sabbatical Work, 2023-24 Academic Year
Cerritos College has an observatory on the roof of the MCIS building that houses a Celestron C14 Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope. The Physics, Astronomy, and Engineering department has a variety of cameras and filters that can be used with this telescope. My sabbatical work included creating a student manual for our labs and a manual for faculty and staff with details about operating the observatory, telescopes, and related equipment. The manuals will undergo continual updates and development to stay current with our equipment and practices for our astronomy labs.
In addition, I created a data repository that has raw data and, when needed, calibration data for the nights I made observations during my sabbatical. Please see the README that is available in that repository to search for specific targets.
