The average hourly wages shown on this site are estimates only and may vary based
on several factors, including:
- Annual union contract negotiations
- Seniority
- Certifications and qualifications
- Job position
- Apprenticeship or journey-level status
Some wage rates listed are only achieved after completing an apprenticeship program or reaching journey-level status. Additionally, the figures provided do not include benefits, which are typically part of a total compensation package.
📌 Example:
The Local 105 Sheet Metal Workers Union offers a journey-level base wage of $58/hour.
However, when benefits are included, the total compensation increases to approximately
$95/hour.
Note 2:
(For specialized welding/dive jobs) Compensation may vary depending on dive depth
and shark density in the local dive zone area.
📊 Student Survey Data
A recent survey of 100 Welding Program graduates who began with no prior welding experience
and found employment through the program revealed the following:
- Average starting wage: $26.44 per hour
- Employment secured as a direct result of training received at Cerritos College
