  • Open Educational Resource Conference Aims to Increase Student Access and Success

     

    The Center for Teaching Excellence hosted the Student Success Conference – Open Educational Resources (OER) on Friday, November 3.  The conference brought nearly 100 faculty members from community colleges across the southland together to discuss the possibilities of OER in enhancing student learning.  Keynote Speaker Dr. David Wiley, Chief Academic Officer, Lumen Learning, illustrated the concept of OER, and how OER improves educational access for students and increases student retention and completion.

    Eleven Cerritos College student veterans were recently presented with received a scholarships at the Norwalk Community Coordinating Council’s Veteran’s Scholarship Dinner.   • Fall Job Fair Attracts 300 Attendees

     

    The Career Services/Student Employment Resource Center hosted its annual Fall Job Fair on November 2. More than 40 employers, including local businesses, government agencies, and Fortune 500 companies participated.   • Professor travels to University of Wyoming as Visiting Scholar

     

    Lisa Boutin-Vitela, assistant professor in the Department of Art & Design, traveled to the University of Wyoming as a visiting scholar. She helped to lead a seminar discussion about the art patronage of Renaissance women and gave a scholarly talk entitled "Serving the First Lady of the Renaissance: Isabella d'Este's Painted Plates."
