Cerritos College Honored as California’s “Strong Workforce Star”
College’s innovative programs increase students’ social mobility
Cerritos College is pleased to announce that 26 of its career technical education
programs recently earned the California Community College’s Strong Workforce Stars
recognition; two Gold, six Silver, and 18 Bronze Stars. The programs were honored
for improving student employment and wage outcomes.
Strong Workforce Stars is an annual recognition for career education programs within the California Community Colleges system whose graduates show significant gains in factors important for advancing social mobility - a substantial increase in earnings, attainment of a living wage and a job closely matched with the field of study. The Cerritos College programs recognized include:
Gold Stars: Dental Hygiene and Registered Nursing
Silver Stars: Engineering Technology, New Product Development, Machine Tool Technology, Physical Therapist Assistant, Dental Assisting, and Infant/Toddler Teacher.
Bronze Stars: Welding Technology, Automotive Technology, Automotive Collision Repair,
Accounting, Business Management, Cosmetology, Children with Special Needs, Architecture
and Architectural Technology, Drafting Technology, International Business and Trade,
Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, Office Technology-Office Computer Applications,
Computer Programming, Computer Networking, Administration of Justice, Retail Store
Operations and Management, Culinary Arts, and Human Services.
