Scholars' Honors Program Celebrates Graduates

SHP graduatesThe Scholars' Honors Program recognized 33 graduates during its 22nd annual graduation ceremony on April 30.

All graduating Scholars’ Honors Program students have been accepted to some of the nation’s most respected colleges and universities. Students will be weighing their options to attend top schools like California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, California State University, Long Beach, University of California campuses at Berkeley, Irvine, Los Angeles, Riverside, and San Diego, Loyola Marymount University, and the University of Southern California. Graduates were recognized with special medals for maintaining a minimum 3.0 grade point average in transferable courses. The SHP marked 94 percent admission rate to UCLA, 93 percent to UCI, and 70 percent to UC Berkeley this year, according to Juntilla.

Two students were awarded Scholars’ Honors Program Scholarships. Angelica Fregoso and Eriyanna Sioson-Archer received $500 scholarships toward their future education.

“As another transfer year ends, honors students continue to demonstrate that sacrifice, persistence, and academic excellence are hallmarks of transfer success," said Timothy Juntilla, director, Scholars’ Honors Program.
