Professor Mickey Presents at the Composite and Advanced Material Expo; Professor Emeritus Terry Price Honored

Terry with his fellow honoreesThe 2019 Composite and Advanced Material Expo held in Anaheim, also known as CAMx Show, was an eventful conference for the Cerritos College Plastics Manufacturing Technology Department.

Professor Emeritus Terry Price received a Distinguished Service Award. The national award is presented by SAMPE (Society of Advanced Materials and Processes) to individuals whose lifelong career achievements have contributed significantly to promoting the advanced materials fields. Terry founded the Cerritos College Plastics and Composites department in 1972, and played a vital role in the development of composites industry in California and nationwide in the 1970s and 80s. He was instrumental in workforce training, and many of his alumni are now leading the defense, aerospace and auto-marine industries.

Mickey presentingMickey presenting at CAMxDr. Miodrag “Mickey” Micic, Sc.D., Ph.D., M.T.M., CSWP, CFI, professor and chair of Engineering Design Technology and Plastics Manufacturing Technology, presented a talk titled Developing an Agile and Skilled Workforce of the Future at the CAMx Show. He spoke about concurrent education in engineering and manufacturing technology and the growing role of the community college. “Concurrent education in engineering and manufacturing technology is not common in four-year schools, but these skills are required for practicing engineers,” said Dr. Mickey.

CAMx is one of the largest conferences on composites manufacturing engineering and technology in the world.
