EDT 100 Integration of the Internet to the Curriculum
This course is designed for educators who wish to learn about the Internet information
literacy and how to incorporate the Internet into the classroom curriculum. Participants
will learn fundamental and advanced Internet search methods, techniques for determining
validity of search results, and copyright issues. A supportive learning community
will be provided in which educators collaborate to improve their skills in creating
effective learning resources using suitable technologies. (2 units)

EDT 101 Creating Curriculum Projects Using the Internet
This course is for educators who wish to learn about the Internet through innovative
curriculum projects. Participants will use fundamental Internet search methods and
web sites for research to create an Internet-based project supporting projector problem-based
learning. Other topics include impact of technology on education; project evaluation;
past, current, and future technology trends; and copyright issues. (1 unit)

Prerequisite: EDT 100 or equivalent with a grade of Credit or “C” or higher.

EDT 102 Creating Technology-Based Curriculum (1 unit)
This course is designed for educators and future educators who wish to expand their Internet and technology-integration skills to be used when developing classroom curriculum. Participants will learn to create Internet ready curriculum and methods for using a website in the classroom. A supportive learning environment will be provided where educators and future educators collaborate to improve their skills in creating effective learning resources using suitable technologies. Recommendation: EDT 110 or equivalent with a grade of Pass or “C” or higher.
EDT 103 Spreadsheets for Educators
This course trains educators and prospective educators to use efficiently technology
to perform administrative, instructional, and other classroom tasks using electronic
spreadsheet software. Spreadsheet-specific topics include the fundamentals of creating
worksheets; formulas and functions; creating charts; using Wizards; techniques to
manipulate large worksheets and multiple-sheet workbooks; and integration of spreadsheet
software into course curriculum. Other topics include impact of technology on education;
past, current, and future technology trends; and copyright issues. (2 units)

EDT 104 Word Processing for Educators
This course trains educators and prospective educators who wish to learn how to work
with word processing documents as they prepare curriculum. Participants will use basic
and intermediate word processing functions to create administrative, instructional,
and classroom management documents. Word processing topics include creating, editing,
saving, formatting, printing, spell checking, searching, replacing, headers and footers,
footnotes and hyphenation, thesaurus, macros, merging and outlining functions. Other
topics include impact of technology on education; past, current, and future technology
trends; and copyright issues. (2 units)

EDT 105 PowerPoint for Educators
This course trains educators and prospective educators who wish to learn how to work
with Microsoft PowerPoint as a mode of teaching and as they prepare curriculum. Participants
will use basic and intermediate presentation graphic software functions to create
administrative, instructional, and classroom management materials. Topics include
creating, managing, and delivering a multi-media curriculum-based presentation. Students
will produce conceptual and data-intensive presentations, create professional output
for overheads, on-screen presentations, speaker notes, and support handouts incorporating
text and graphics. Other topics include impact of technology on education; past, current,
and future technology trends; and copyright issues. (2 units)

EDT 106 Databases for Educators
This course trains educators and prospective educators in the use of database management
systems. Topics include techniques for building a database, tables, queries, forms,
and reports. Other topics include designing curricular lessons and student assignments
utilizing databases. (2 units)

EDT 107 Desktop Publishing for Educators
This course provides an introduction to the functions of desktop publishing software
with an emphasis on the educational community. Topics include creating camera-ready
printed presentation materials and developing presentation materials such as letterhead
stationery, signs and flyers, newsletters, and a personal portfolio. Other topics
include impact of technology on education; past, current, and future technology trends;
and copyright issues.

EDT 108 PhotoShop Elements for EducatorsThis course covers the basic through advanced features of Adobe Photoshop Elements.
Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of Adobe Photoshop Elements while
discovering practical and creative uses of the application to increase speed and quality
of learning in the classroom. Methods of integrating this software into the educational
setting will be explored. Digital stories and photo essays will be used as an alternative
learning style. (2 units)
