Documents: Senate Resolution of Support

WHEREAS the median time to a degree for a Cerritos College student in the 2015-2016 year was 4.7 years (according to the 2016 IEPI), and 

WHEREAS the 2015-2016 year cost of attendance (according to the Financial Aid Office) was as high as $12,162 for fall and spring term for some Cerritos College students, and 

WHEREAS the cost of attendance has risen every year for the last five years and will likely continue to do so, and 

WHEREAS supporting college completion is a moral imperative, 

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Cerritos College Faculty Senate approves of Guided Pathways in its efforts to increase student success and completion, and 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Cerritos College Faculty Senate asks faculty support this program by starting dialogues at department and division meetings about ways to innovate in the spirit of this initiative, and 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Cerritos College Faculty Senate encourages administrators, faculty, staff and students to examine current college practices, to identify ways to help students understand the path to their degrees and certifications, and to help students make progress toward their goals.
