NORWALK, Calif. – April 16, 2019 - Cerritos College is one of six colleges to collaborate with NASA’s pilot program NASA On Campus. The program will include an engineering design and robotics competition and NASA internships. NASA On Campus adapts the space agency’s successful NASA Community College Aerospace Scholars (NCAS) program to include community college students who are pursuing STEM careers.  NCAS encourages students to finish a degree or transfer to a four-year university to pursue a NASA-related occupation.

Cerritos College students will participate in a five-week online learning program during the summer.  Students who successfully complete the online course will participate in an engineering design and robotics competition designed by NASA in the fall. After successfully completing the program, one student will be awarded a NASA summer internship. The College was part of the California Space Grant Consortium that administered NASA’s National Space Grant College and Fellowship Program in California in 2016 and 2017.

“We are thrilled to bring a NASA experience to our campus. This gives a tremendous opportunity to our students who are interested in STEM and NASA-related fields,” said Janet Mclarty-Schroeder, chair of physics and astronomy.
