About Us
The Woodworking Manufacturing Technologies (WMT) Department offers a comprehensive
woodworking program to serve the needs of a diverse community and to provide training
aligned with industry needs.
The WMT Department offers courses on state-of-the-art CNC equipment as well as traditional
woodworking machinery and hand tools. Certificate programs are designed to give students comprehensive
education and training as well as the most current understanding of technology in
their area of choice. Classroom theory is combined with hands-on woodworking experience,
with emphasis on training for specific job skills. Currently over 40 courses are offered
in cabinetmaking, furniture making, and CNC woodworking.
The woodworking facility encompasses approximately 27,000 square feet and includes
two bench labs, three machine labs, CNC lab, computer lab, finishing spray booth,
lumber room, and student project storage area.
The department regularly receives calls from business owners and operators who are seeking qualified workers. Many graduates of the program have entered the woodworking industry.
