DH 110  Preventive Dentistry I    (2 units)

Class hours: 2 lecture

Prerequisite: Admission to the Dental Hygiene Program.  A valid adult, child and infant CPR card including two-person CPR. 

This course introduces the student to the concept of optimum oral helath care through plaque control, preventive dentistry and the role of the auxiliaries on the dental health team.  Emphasis is placed on oral hygiene practices and patient motivation.  Also included are etiology of soft and hard deposits, and patient instruction in plaque control care.
