ANNUAL PLANNING
PURPOSE OF ANNUAL PLANNING
The annual plan is an essential component of the program review cycle, keeping departments and programs actively engaged in continuous improvement between comprehensive self-studies. The purpose of the annual plan is to to assess progress, identify emerging needs, and take purposeful action toward the goals established in the program review.
The annual plan serves two primary purposes:
- It provides departments and programs with a structured opportunity to document and reflect on the short-term progress made toward implementing the recommendations and action steps identified in their program review.
- It serves as the primary mechanism through which departments and programs communicate their operational needs and make a case for the resources required to address them.
By maintaining a consistent one-year focus, the annual plan bridges the gap between long-term program review planning and the immediate operational needs of the department or program, ensuring that progress is sustained and resources are strategically directed where they are needed most.
