National ITS Architecture Development Process
Development of the National ITS Architecture began in 1992, and the architectural development team was selected in September 1993.
The National ITS Architecture development was based on a twenty-year planning horizon (from 1992 to 2012), and was staged (i.e. two phases).
Phase 1 was completed in 1994, when the four teams presented their respective architectural concept.
Phase 2 (the final phase), involving combined efforts of Loral and Rockwell International, began in February 1995 and ended in July 1996, producing a National ITS Architecture.
The four teams participating in Phase 1 were:
- Hughes Aircraft
- Loral
- Rockwell International
- Westinghouse Electric
