ITS User Service Bundles

The overlap of technological elements blurs the distinction between the programs. For example, electronic toll collection (ETC) can be categorized under ATMS (Advanced Transportation management Systems) or CVO (Commercial Vehicle Operations); signal preemption can be categorized under APTS (Advanced Public Transportation Systems) or ATMS, highway advisory radio (HAR) can be categorized under ATIS (Advanced Traveler Information Systems) or ATMS; etc.

In order to minimize this overlap, ITS programs are now routinely categorized under 7 User Service Bundles, under which 31 User Services are regrouped.
