DESCRIPTION

These courses will be tailored for the beginner or journeyman technicians and to the vehicles that the technicians diagnose in their shops. Each course will be 8 hours long and each technician must pass written and practical hands on test for each course they take.

SUBJECTS COVERED

Day 1

Intro to Electricity

They will learn what is DC and AC Voltage, and how they make systems function in regards to systems on their vehicles, by building and testing simple electrical circuits. They will also be introduced to ohms law and how it applies to the electrical systems they work on in their shops.

Day 2

DVOM Meter Usage

They will cover all of the functions of a DVOM and how to understand the readings. For a better understanding the technicians will bring their meters.

and we will discuss the difference between. And then learn to use them by building and testing simple circuits and testing DC and AC voltage, Ohms, DC and AC Amperes, Frequency, Dwell, Duty Cycle, and the Min Max setting.

Day 3

Reading Electrical and Ladder Logic Diagrams

They will learn to read and understand how to use electrical diagrams and Ladder Logic diagrams as a tool to diagnose electrical concerns. They will be using the diagrams from the vehicles in their shops to use in exercises that will teach them the systems, and how to use their DVOM to diagnose a variety of possible concerns that they may encounter.

Day 4

Series Circuits

They will learn the properties of a series circuit, by building series circuits from the diagrams of vehicles in their shops to be used in exercises that will teach them the systems, and how to use their DVOM to diagnose a variety of possible concerns that they may encounter in their vehicle repairs.

Day 5

Parallel Circuits

They will learn the properties of a parallel circuit, by building parallel circuits from the diagrams of vehicles in their shops to be used in exercises that will teach them the systems, and how to use their DVOM to diagnose a variety of possible concerns that they may encounter in their vehicle repairs.

Day 6

Series Parallel Circuits

They will learn the properties of a series parallel circuit, by building parallel circuits from the diagrams of vehicles in their shops to be used in exercises that will teach them the systems, and how to use their DVOM to diagnose a variety of possible concerns that they may encounter in their vehicle repairs.

Day 7

Computer Controls

They will learn how to test and diagnose computer controlled circuits with scan tools and computers that are used in their shops. They will be connecting their scan tools and computers to vehicles in the shop and looking at both good and bugged systems.

To insure a true understanding of electric and electronic diagnoses and to reduce the time required for electrical diagnosis, it is recommended they be taken in order from day 1 thru day 7.
