Dr. Mickey Co-authors Study in Leading Open Access Scientific Journal

Dr. Miodrag “Mickey” Micic, Sc.D., Ph.D., M.T.M., CSWP, CFI, professor and chair of Engineering Design Technology and Plastics Manufacturing Technology, co-authored a study Conjugation of Carbon Dots with β-Galactosidase Enzyme: Surface Chemistry and Use in Biosensing with colleagues from the University of Miami, UCLA, and Ball State University.

The authors demonstrated that the conjugated enzyme exhibited higher stability toward temperature and pH changes in comparison to the native enzyme. The study reinforces the suitability of the use of the conjugated enzyme for biosensing, a method used to detect chemical substances. The study was published in the last issue of the leading peer chemistry -reviewed journal Molecules, and can be accessed online.
