Faculty Professional Development Committee

Our mission is to collaborate with the Center for Teaching Excellence (CTX) as an advisory committee to enhance and sustain professional learning opportunities, resources and programs for faculty members at Cerritos College.

Purpose of this committee:

  • Develops professional learning opportunities for faculty, including acting as the Flex Coordinating Committee
  • Recommends information for faculty resources to the CTX
  • Provides input, advice, and recommendations on topics and schedule of training for New Faculty Orientation Program, Mentor Program, TA Program, and other initiatives, as appropriate.
  • Monitors faculty professional development trends and practices

 Goals:

  1. Foster a culture that values and sustains faculty professional development as a central part of institutional success.

  2. Improve campus communication to expand awareness of professional development and Flex opportunities, with an emphasis on transparency around policies, procedures, and the recording process.

  3. Facilitate professional development opportunities that support faculty growth and align with Cerritos College’s educational goals, ultimately enhancing student success.

  4. Encourage professional development that deepens equity-minded practices and nurtures a culture of respect in keeping with the college’s values of diversity and inclusion.

  5. Advocate for the hiring of the full-time replacement position to partner with the CTX Specialist in coordinating and supporting professional development and CTX operations.

  6. Increase collaboration with campus experts on innovation initiatives that support and align with the college’s institutional goals.
