1. Recognize, identify, and differentiate between traditional and contemporary dance forms; and demonstrate an awareness of the cultural expressions and aesthetics of dance.
2. Recognize and identify prominent dance artists associated with specific dance genres and their eminence in traditional and contemporary dance communities.
3. Utilize research skills to present a report on a selected dance topic.
4. Present a movement or digital demonstration of a dance genre, detailing styling and technique.
5. Review dance recordings (live, recorded, and documentaries) and live performances.
6. Analyze dance choreography and performance in a written dance concert critique.

1. Analyze the role of ritual and concert dance in preserving culture, history, and social practices from ancient through present times
2. Demonstrate knowledge of the historical background of multiple cultural dance forms and their evolution
