  • Course Description: This course presents the dental hygiene student with information regarding the pharmacology of selected medications encountered in the dental setting.   Emphasis is placed on learning the basic concepts of the different drug classes, including mechanisms of action, clinical indications, adverse effects, drug interactions, and contraindications.  The effect of medication on dental health, with a focus on consumer education, is also reviewed.
