FAQ

As soon as you know!

It is best if we have 7-10 days to find interpreters/captioners.

We will try our best to find interpreters/captioners.

Fill out the form. We will try our best.

Fill out the CANCELLATION FORM and explain you are not going to class in

This is a "no show." You can have 2 no shows. On the 3rd now show, interpreters/captioners (services) will be pulled.

You must talk to the Communication Services Coordinator to get interpreters/captioners (services) back to your classes.

Please email CANCELLATION FORM to let us know you don't need services for the class that day.

Please contact the office to let us know and we will have the interpreters/captioners wait for you.

Fill out the request form.

Yes! Please fill out the request form.

Contact us right away! You can email the office and tell us which class and what video and we will contact the Professor to help them get the video captioned.

Only if the video has captions. Then they can interpret for you if you prefer that.

Also called Communication Access Real-time Translation (CART). This video shows you what it looks like.

ALD stands for Assistive Listening Device. This is something used by hard-of-hearing people to hear better in a classroom. It has a transmitter/microphone that the Professor wears that is connected to an FM receiver that has headphones. The hard-of-hearing person hears the headphones in class so they can listen to the professor without background noise.

Some of Cerritos classrooms have T-coils. Your professor has to use turn on the system and use the microphone and you have to turn your hearing aid to T-coil setting to use it. If you want assistance with this, email the office.

Yes, you can. Fill out the request form.

You have to be a student in classes to have services in a club or organization though. If you drop all of your classes, you can not have interpreters/captioners in clubs or organizations.
