Ms. Tsai first came to the Cerritos College under the Graduate Student Teaching Assistant Program with Dr. Christine Lopez and the late Mr. Scott Henderson in 1995.  Ms. Tsai joined the Cerritos College Music Department faculty in 1996, where she teaches Music Fundamentals, Music Appreciation, and she teaches the violin in the Applied Music Program.

Ms. Tsai received her M.M. in Violin Performance from the University of Southern California, and B.A. in Music from the University of California, Berkeley.  Her former violin instructors have included her father, Mr. Jih-Nan Tsai, Mrs. Janice R. Luna, Mrs. Virginia Baker, Ms. Sheryl Staples, Ms. Michelle Kim, and Mr. Robert Lipsett.

Ms. Tsai is a member of the American String Teachers’ Association (ASTA) and the Music Teachers’ Association of California (MTAC).  She is currently the Vice President of the MTAC Whittier Branch, and Councilmember of the Certificate of Merit Program.

Aside from teaching at Cerritos College, Ms. Tsai holds a private violin studio with talented students ages five to eighteen.  The private students of Tammy Tsai have been featured on the Family Arts Festival at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts, City of Cerritos Tree Lighting Ceremony, and Violin Recitals at the Cerritos Public Library.  The private students of Ms. Tsai have consistently won competitions such as the Bach-Baroque Festival, Winter Solo Festival, and the Southwestern Youth Music Festival (SYMF), as well as being selected to perform at the annual MTAC State Convention.

Ms. Tsai has served as an adjudicator for many competitions, festivals, and the Certificate of Merit program in Southern California.  She performs the violin regularly with Trio Capriccio, and she freelances as a solo and orchestral violinist.
