What is the Dual Enrollment Program?

Dual Enrollment are college classes offered to High School students where they receive both college units and high school credit.

What are the Eligibility Steps for Dual Enrollment?

Dual Enrollment (K-10th Grade)

  • Students can only take one (1) Class: {Max Units: 4 units each Fall, Spring, and Summer}
  • Student must take SRT if enrolling in an English or Math Class or a course with a pre-requisite of Math or English.
  • Required Signatures:
    • School Counselor or Principal
    • Parent / Guardian
    • Student
    • Cerritos College Instructor

Dual Enrollment (11th & 12th Grade)

  • Students can take up to 2 Classes: {Max Units: 8 units each Fall & Spring / 7 Units Summer}
  • Student must take SRT if enrolling in an English or Math Class or a course with a pre-requisite of Math or English.
  • Required Signatures:
    • School Counselor or Principal
    • Parent / Guardian
    • Student

Are there any Limitations to do Dual Enrollment?

  1. Students shall receive college credit for the community college courses that they successfully complete.

  2. Students may not enroll in pre-collegiate courses (1-99) or physical education courses.* Cerritos College has determined that non-transferable and physical education courses are the types of courses that would not be considered “advanced scholastic” in nature.
    Example: English 20, Math 20, PE 100, etc.

  3. Students may only enroll in courses not available to the student within their school district.

  4. Placement testing is an admissions requirement for all Dual Enrollment students taking an English or Math Course or enrolling in a course with a pre-requisite of Math or English.

  5. Students may not enroll in a college course to alleviate a high school deficiency. For instance, students who failed a course in high school may not retake it at Cerritos College.

  6. Dual Enrollment students do not receive priority enrollment status.

  7. Students that have previously enrolled and dropped their courses and/or have received substandard grades and/or have not made satisfactory progress will not be allowed to continue in the Dual Enrollment Program.

I heard they are offering Dual Enrollment Classes at my High School. How do I get more information?

Talk with your High School Counselor to see what classes are being offered at your High School.
Your high school counselor will let you know what classes are being offered and if you are eligible.

What are the steps to take a Dual Enrollment Class at Cerritos College?

  1. Complete the Cerritos College Application online.

    Go to Cerritos College Website and Click "Apply Now"
    Application is 2 Parts, please make sure you fill out Both Parts
    * Set-up your CCC Apply Account
    * Start & Complete your College Application
    Your Cerritos College student number will be emailed to you within 24-48 hours.

  2. Complete the Dual Enrollment Form
    Make sure you have all of the following:
    * Indicate the course(s) you are planning on enrolling.
    * You may not enroll in pre-collegiate courses or (1-99 level) or physical education courses.
    * Vocational courses below 100 level may be taken.
    * School principal or authorized counselor sign and complete appropriate sections(s)
    * Both parent’s signature and student signature are required.

  3. Complete the SRT/GPT – online via the Student’s MyCerritos account. 
    * Only required for students taking a Math or English Course or
    * Class has a pre-requisite of Math or English

  4. Submit your: Dual Enrollment Form to: dualenrollment@cerritos.edu 
    * Forms are reviewed by the Dual Enrollment Team prior to going to Admissions
    * Admissions will finalize processing of all forms
    * Students must wait for forms to be processed before Enrolling for Classes.  

  5. Enrolling for Classes:
    Check your MyCerritos portal for enrollment appointment and enroll for courses.
    To Log in: User Id: Use Student ID / Password: Date of Birth (MMDDYY) 
    * High School students do not have priority registration, so students are advised to have alternative classes in case their first choice is full.

  6. Pay Your Fees: The $46/unit fees will be waived for students. 
    You may pay your student fees online via your MyCerritos account. 
    It takes 5 - 7 business Days for Enrollment Fees to be removed.

How do I Enroll for the Class I want to take on campus or online?

  1. Make sure you have submitted your Dual Enrollment Forms and they have been processed and approved.

  2. Check your MyCerritos portal for registration appointment and enroll for courses on your MyCerritos account. To Log in: User Id: Use Student ID / Password: Date of Birth (MMDDYY)

How do I register for the Class I want to take at my High School?

  • Step 1: Talk with your High School Counselor to see what classes are being offered at your High School.

    • You will receive your Cerritos College student number 24-48 hours after you submit your application via email. 
    • Your Cerritos College Student number is a 7-digit number.

  • Step 3: Complete the Dual Enrollment Form
    Make sure you have all of the following:
    * Indicate the course(s) you and your counselor talked about taking.
    * School principal or authorized counselor sign and complete appropriate sections(s)
    * Both parent’s signature and student signature are required.

  • Step 4: Submit the Completed Dual Enrollment Form to your High School Counselor
    • Your High School Counselor will submit your Paperwork to our Office
    • Cerritos College will work with your High School Counselor to get you enrolled in the Class

What is MyCerritos?

MyCerritos is the student portal that contains valuable information pertinent to all students. 

This includes: Campus Announcements, Student Center (View Enrollment & Financial Aid, View Holds & Fees, etc.), Quick Links (Enrolling, Parking, Transcripts, Payment Center), and Catalog & Course Schedule information.

WHAT IS CANVAS?

Canvas is the main online platform professors use to teach classes at Cerritos College.  Professors will often place your Syllabus, assignments, lectures, and messages on this platform; so students should check their class page in Canvas often.

What is the SRT?

The SRT (Self Report Tool) is an online questionnaire which provides new, first-time college students with the opportunity to place directly into transfer level English, ESL or Math courses based on their United States high school records. There are two sections: one for English/ESL and one for Math.

Do I need to take the SRT?

Students seeking to take English or Math Classes must take the SRT.  For classes with a pre-requisite of Math or English, students must also take the SRT.  If there is no pre-requisite of Math or English, then students do not have to take the SRT.

What are the steps for taking the SRT?

  • Log into MyCerritos account.

  • Once in MyCerritos screen, scroll down to the lower right-hand corner of the screen. Will find “Placement” section.

  • Click on “English/ESL SRT” link to complete placement process for an English/ESL course placement.

  • Click on “Math SRT” link to complete placement process for math course placement.

  • Must complete both SRT processes to receive placement results.

  • Please allow 2 – 3 business days to post to unofficial transcripts and have Assessment hold removed.

  • Upon completion of placement process, it is strongly recommended to meet with a counselor if questions or concerns regarding placement results exist.
