Gender Identity

Cerritos College welcomes its students and employees that identify as LGBTQ+. This page offers information and resources related to programming, support, and services available at Cerritos College for members of our diverse community that identify as transgender and gender variant.

Preferred Name Information

Many people use preferred first names rather than their legal first name.

Preferred names can be offered on some records without proof of a legal name change. Some places this could appear are Class rosters, Canvas, Online phone directory or campus email addresses. Each request is reviewed on a case by case basis. To request a preferred name request appointment, contact the Title IX Coordinator at TitleIXCoordinator@cerritos.edu. Please note that requests that are deemed by the Title IX Coordinator to be inappropriate, offensive or for the purpose of misrepresentation will be denied.

Some offices may post a preferred name poster indicating that will call you by your preferred first name upon request. Preferred Name Flyer.

You can find flyers in the EOPS and HR offices.

Does your office participate in the preferred name flyer program? If so, let the Title IX Coordinator know and you’ll be added to this list.
