Onboarding: Getting Started at Cerritos College
We want to welcome you, our newest members of the Cerritos College community. We're so glad you're here! We value your experience, your knowledge, and your history, because we know they will shape your work and transform students' lives.
To help your first days and weeks at the college feel meaningful and purposeful, we've broken down your onboarding essentials with a “New Hire Quick Start Guide” to help walk you through the hiring process and launch your career at Cerritos. This guide outlines the essential steps to complete your onboarding and get you ready for your first day.

New Hire Quick Start Guide
Once you accept your offer, an HR representative will email you a link to your digital onboarding packet with essential information.
- Action: Complete all forms (I-9, W-4, etc.) as soon as possible to avoid delays in your start date.
- Faculty Only: Please submit all official transcripts and other documents as requested by Human Resources.
Before beginning work, all employees must complete the following clearances and submit to HR:
- TB Testing: Provide proof of a negative TB test (valid within the last 3.5 years).
- Resource: You can get this done at your personal doctor or on campus at the Student Health & Wellness Center.
- Live Scan (Fingerprinting): * Location: Please visit any Live Scan Office or the Cerritos College Campus Police to complete your DOJ fingerprinting.
- Note: HR is notified electronically once your clearance is processed.
- Schedule Your I-9 Verification Appointment: Please schedule an appointment with Human Resources to complete your I‑9 verification, which requires your employment eligibility documents to be reviewed in person.
Once your clearances are processed, HR will add your name to the Board of Trustees’ (BOT) agenda for official ratification. The BOT meets monthly.
- Managers and Full-time Faculty: Please note that full-time faculty and management-level positions must be Board-approved before your official start date.
As we finalize your onboarding, our IT team works behind the scenes to set up your digital identity.
- Employee ID & Email: You will receive your college ID number and email login credentials once you are cleared to begin employment.
- Getting Your Email and ID Number: Your division office will email your college ID number and login credentials to your personal email once they are created. After that, all official communication will be sent to your Cerritos College email account.
- Keep Records: Keep a copy of your Live Scan receipt and TB results for your personal files.
- Ask Early: If you have questions about your specific timeline, your HR representative is your best point of contact.
