  • Critically read and analyze works of literature 
  • Compose thesis-driven arguments in academic writing to suit a variety of rhetorical situations, including interpretation, evaluation, and analysis, and support them with a variety of appropriate textual evidence and examples. 
  • Analyze and employ logical, structural and rhetorical methods such as inductive and deductive reasoning and logos, pathos, ethos 
  • Analyze literary works using critical approaches and/or literary theory
  • Find, analyze, interpret, and evaluate primary and secondary sources, incorporating them into written essays that adhere to the conventions of standard written English in accord with MLA documentation style 
  • Identify a text's premises and assumptions in various historical, philosophical, social, political and aesthetic contexts.
