- Demonstrate critical thinking skills by analyzing and evaluating the work of other students, published work, and the student’s own work
- Recognize the distinguishing features of each of the four genres, short fiction, poetry, creative non-fiction/memoir and drama
- Create original works in at least one of the genres
- Develop understanding of the market by preparing manuscripts for submission to a publication
- Develop critical vocabulary for evaluating and reviewing the four genres of creative writing
