Scholarship Application Information

Never disqualify yourself from the system!  That should be your motto.  Most students out of modesty immediately think that earning a scholarship takes being a perfect 4.0 GPA-this is not true!  Apply, apply, apply-go for it! General Tips 

  • Read application package and be aware of requirements                          
  • Keep extra official transcripts
  • Request letters of recommendation ahead of time
  • Be neat
  • Check spelling and grammar
  • Answer all application questions
  • Be concise and to the point
  • Proofread your application
  • Photocopy entire application
  • Send Thank You note/card

Personal Statements Do's

  • Include description of specific achievements
  • Keep focus on you but give credit to resources
  • Rely on letters for praise
  • I.D. long-term goals
  • Research your field
  • Make opening paragraph individual
  • Make it easy to read

  • Don't just list what you list on application
  • Don't talk about others
  • Don't list personal life
  • Don't compliment yourself
  • Don't make promises
  • Don't be vague
  • Don't begin with hello my name is
  • Don't forget to proofread
