Students Experiencing Respiratory Symptoms
STUDENT GUIDELINES FOR COVID, FLU, & OTHER RESPIRATORY VIRUS ILLNESSES
When you think you might have a cold, COVID, the flu, or any other respiratory virus which can cause symptoms such as fever, chills, fatigue, cough, runny nose, and/or headaches:
- Stay home and away from others (including people you live with who are not sick).
- Notify your instructor.
- Get extra sleep and stay well hydrated.
- You can return to campus when, for at least 24 hours, both of the following are true:
- Your symptoms are getting better overall, and
- You have not had a fever (and are not using fever-reducing medication).
- When you return to campus, wear a mask and maintain social distancing while indoors
on campus for at least 5 days.
- Keep in mind that you may still be able to spread the virus that made you sick, even if you are feeling better.
- If you develop a fever or you start to feel worse after you have gone back to normal activities, stay home again (return to Step 1).
- Enrolled students may make a telehealth appointment with SHS by calling 562-860-2451 Ext. 2321.
