Words of wisdom for future transfer students:
Your experience is valuable. Everything that you have gone through and are learning about yourself is preparing you for being on that university campus. When you get to the campus of your choice, be brave and be a leader. Professors love transfers because we have lived experiences many of their underclassman do not. Also, when applying make sure that you give yourself enough time to write, rewrite, and edit your essays. Finally, always submit your applications a few days before the deadline to ensure that your application is submitted.
Career and future goals:
Well, I just graduated from SJSU with my Master’s in English. I’m actually in the process of applying to PhD programs and trying to secure some adjunct teaching jobs with the hopes of becoming a tenured professor someday. Currently, I work in the public health sector as an HIV prevention educator with a primary focus on Black and Latinx gay and bisexual men.
