Nursing Program - Prior to Fall of 2024

ASSOCIATE DEGREE NURSING PROGRAM MISSION STATEMENT:

The mission of the Cerritos College Nursing Program is to prepare nurses to meet the needs of diverse populations in an ever changing healthcare environment.

ASSOCIATE DEGREE NURSING PROGRAM:

The Registered Nursing Program is an application based program.  The application cycle opens and closes once a year, January - February. The program is full time and consists of two years (four semesters) of consecutive, sequenced courses that include lectures and clinical components.  The program is in session in Fall and Spring semesters. Days and times vary with each course, with clinicals being any day of the week, and sometimes in the evening.  The nursing program does not complete required coursework during summer sessions.  Upon completion of the program, as well as the general education units, graduates receive an AA Degree In Nursing.  Graduates are eligible to take the National Council of State Boards Licensing Exam (NCLEX-RN) for licensure as a Registered Nurse.  Graduates may transfer their AA coursework to a 4-year college or university to achieve a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).   The program also has partnerships with many 4 year programs (National University, California State University Los Angeles, California State University Fullerton, Chamberlain University) to support students in good standing to get a "jump start" on their BSN coursework through "Dual Enrollment Pathways".
