A Message from Student Services
We are glad you are here at Cerritos. We want your new semester to start well and be successful.
Attend the first Class Meeting and Arrive Early
Demand for seats in certain classes is high, so don’t be late or absent from your classes. You risk losing your seat and being dropped from class. Review the Campus Map now and locate each of the buildings in which you have classes. Large construction projects are underway—refer also to next item.
- You are advised to arrive on campus at least 1 ½ hours before the start of your classes each day of the first week.
Campus Construction and Paths of Travel
Construction is underway in many areas of the campus. Please refer to the Campus Map online and note the following.
Other construction sites are shown in red on the campus map at the link above, including:
- The Health and Wellness Complex between the Student Center and the PE buildings
- The Performing Arts Center between the new Fine Arts Building and the Classroom Building
- The construction support route between and adjacent to the HS and ME Buildings.
- Social Science Elevator Project
For information for students with disabilities, please contact DSPS.
Neighborhood Parking Tow-Away Zones
The City of Norwalk enforces immediate tow-away of vehicles parked illegally in the tow-away zones in the neighborhoods around the campus. Fines and fees can cost hundreds of dollars. Be sure to park legally. Visit Parking for more information.
Class Add, Drop, and other Deadlines
Familiarize yourself with add, drop and other college deadlines. Dates for class terms are provided at Session Dates and Deadlines and information is in the Schedule of Classes.
Textbooks for Less—Book Rental
The Bookstore provides a cost-saving rental option on many of the most popular textbooks. Visit online at Cerritos College Bookstore or on campus in the Student Center for more ways to save.
The new Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is available at www.fafsa.gov . Make sure to submit your application as early as possible. More Cerritos College Office of Financial Aid information and assistance is available online at Cerritos Financial Aid.
Plan to be Flexible in Scheduling
Many classes in English, math, and reading will become full before the semester begins. These classes are offered at many times. If the time you selected is closed, look at other times. Sign up on the wait list when necessary. Be prepared to wait and take the course next term.
iFalcon - Habits of Mind
FALCON Habits of Mind (HOM) takes an integrative approach to help students envision themselves as successful learners, believe in their ability to succeed, set and achieve academic and personal goals, and develop their ability to discover connections between their personal experiences and academic concepts.
